Orange & Barley Buttermilk Pancakes

Spice up your plain pancakes with this to-die-for fluffy and flavourful recipe – made in an easy 15 minutes. Infusing the citrus flavours of our Orange and Barley Syrup with a sweet and savoury buttermilk base, these buttermilk pancakes will leave your guests craving for the secret ingredient of Baker Halls & Co. They’re fantastic eaten plain, or try whipping up our special Gooey fruit syrup sauces with either our Blackcurrant or Apple and Pomegranate fruit syrups. Use:
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup low-fat buttermilk
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon oil
2 tablespoons of Baker Halls & Co.’s Orange and Barley Fruit Syrup
Pinch of salt


Make:
In a bowl whisk together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
In a separate bowl combine buttermilk, egg, oil and fruit syrup.
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Coat a large flat bottom pan with cooking spray and heat over medium heat.
Pour about ¼ cup of batter into the pan. Use a flat spatula to flip pancakes once the top has bubbles and edges begin to look “dry”. Cook for 1-2 more minutes. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve warm with gooey fruit syrup.
